New from Frug! Montreal turned Ottawa jewelery company Frug has just sent us a huge box of new stuff including really lovely lockets credited to their alter-ego "La Pistole" and some very sweet gold-fill and silver cast peices (pac man necklace anyone?). Here are a couple pix:

Time to Get Giftie - Jen Ham bunnies

Here is the first in a series of ideas for the gifting season, from General 54 with love!

Jen Ham's awesome tartan bunnies! Jen Ham (also know as that tall drink-of-water who hangs out behind the General 54 counter some days and makes crazy embroidered badges) has made the most amazing little rabbit creatures for the gifting season. She may or may not been encouraged to do this, by my completely over-the-top reaction to a doll (a two headed ostrich type thing - totally genius) she made for my child and store mascott Nina.

Her bunnies come in two sizes: cute, and more cute and are available in a range of fabrics. They make excellent mantle warmers, and will charm kids (and adults) of all ages!

Dress your Pillows Right

Hi all.. I am officially back from maternity leave, and the first order of business has been getting our new line of General 54 pillowcases ready. They will be in store this week, but can also be purchased via our sparkling, brand new General 54 Etsy site.

The pillowcases are screened and made by us in Montreal. There are only few of the designs up right now on etsy but I will be adding them slowly but surely over the coming days! They are printed on your choice of organic or egyptian 350-thread count cotton. The fabrics are amazingly soft, and as any convert to high-endy bedding with tell you, really worth treating yourself to. Thankfully, we've been able to keep the cost down, thanks to our buddies at a local fabric store.

There are five designs to chose from, plus a couple different fabric colours: grey, aqua, pale green, cream, and white (only available in organic). I especially love the crow print, which i found years ago on Ebay. It's a paper cut out made by a lady in Massachusetts (she signed it, but there's no date... I'm thinking probably in the 40's or 50's). And Jen G (our fearless store co-owner) scored a great picture of lady contortionist on roller skates.. what talent!

Anyhow, check out the Etsy site, or visit us in the store for a complete selection. They are sold individually, but we've printed most of them with a mirror-image version so you can also make a set!
